VETS Chief of Staff Julian Purdy represented VETS at the 125th anniversary celebration of the Buffalo Soldier Iron Riders in Missoula, Montana. The Iron Riders belonged to the 25th Infantry Regiment and were a part of the U.S. Army bicycle corps. In June of 1897, the Iron Riders rode military issued bicycles on a 1900-mile trip starting at Fort Missoula, Montana and arrived in St. Louis, Missouri in 41 days. Mr. Purdy delivered opening remarks along with the President of the University of Montana on the significance of this historic accomplishment.
