Training Center Cape May and its Leadership Diversity Advisory Council (LDAC) hold events recognizing Juneteenth and retired Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Vince Patton's 50th Anniversary of Enlistment in the service, June 16-17, 2022.
During the two-day event, there will be Real Talk discussions, a presentation on the book Profiles of Character, and a Cookout Celebration of Freedom to commemorate both milestones.
Master Chief Patton was the 8th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard and has been the only African American to hold the position.
Combining June and nineteenth, Juneteenth commemorates the ending of slavery in the United
States. In 2021, the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act recognized June 19 as a federal holiday.
