Paul Bartok, Marine Attaché Tokyo, U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific, interacts during the opening ceremony for the eighth iteration of the Pacific Amphibious Leaders Symposium in Tokyo, Japan, June 14, 2022. PALS was co-hosted by MARFORPAC and the JGSDF in order to enhance amphibious interoperability, crisis response capabilities, and mutual friendships with senior leaders from across the Indo-Pacific. This year’s symposium brought together senior leaders from 18 participating delegations who are committed to a free and open Indo-Pacific, with the objective of strengthening and developing regional relationships.
