Ed Fox, a World War II veteran, following the Battle of Midway commemoration ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 7, 2022. Fox was recognized during the ceremony as one of the last remaining survivors who fought in the Battle of Midway. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the battle, which was a turning point of World War II’s Pacific War. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service partnered with the U.S. Navy, The Texas Children’s Choir, Department of Veteran’s Affairs, American Battle Monuments Commission, and the Friends of Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge to make the ceremony possible.
