U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Destin Smith, a joint fire observer with 2nd Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (2nd ANGLICO), II Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, observes artillery fire alongside a member of the Turkish Armed Forces during exercise EFES 2022 near Izmir, Turkey, May 26, 2022. EFES22 is an international Combined Joint Live-Fire Exercise focused on increasing force readiness, promoting stability and prosperity in the region, and interoperability between the U.S., Turkey, and allied nations. 2nd ANGLICO specializes in providing a liaison capability to Marine air ground task force commanders to plan and conduct terminal control of fires in support of joint, allied and coalition forces.
