U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Matthew Kearney, the chief reconnaissance and surveillance instructor at the Jungle Warfare Training Center, shows Marines with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) how to construct a snare trap during a Jungle survival course at JWTC, Okinawa Japan, April 6th, 2022. The jungle survival course gives Marines the confidence to operate as stand-alone entities when logistical support cannot be guaranteed. The 31st MEU, The Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
