SAN DIEGO (May 10, 2022) Capt. Eric Elster, the Department of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s third chairman and professor, speaks with site directors during a meeting at Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) San Diego May 10. Elster toured the hospital to share information, examine procedures and speak with Sailors and hospital staff. NMRTC San Diego's mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMRTC San Diego employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
