An AN/TRN-47 Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN) system is staged next to the airfield at Bardufoss Air Station in support of Exercise Cold Response 2022, Norway, March 9, 2022. The TACAN is a navigation system used by military aircraft that provides the user with bearing and distance to a ground or ship-borne station. Exercise Cold Response ’22 is a biennial exercise that takes place across Norway, with participation from each of its military services, as well as from 26 additional North Atlantic Treaty Organization allied nations and regional partners.
