220219-N-YS525-001 PRUDHOE BAY, ALASKA (Feb. 19, 2022) – Aerographer’s Mate 1st Class Wesley Tien, assigned to Strike Group Oceanography Team (SGOT)-Norfolk, sets up a miniature weather station in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, to test its readings before moving it up to Ice Camp Queenfish during the U.S. Navy’s Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2022. The miniature weather station reads cloud cover, precipitation, temperature and winds in a location. Ice Camp Queenfish is an encampment built on an ice floe 160 nautical miles off the coast of Alaska in the Arctic Ocean. ICEX 2022 is a three-week exercise that allows the Navy to assess its operational readiness in the Arctic, increase experience in the region, advance understanding of the Arctic environment, and continue to develop relationships with other services, allies and partner organizations.
