U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Richard Sauceda, an infantry unit leader with 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, 3d Marine Division, fires at opposing forces during coastal defense operations on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 9, 2022. This training demonstrated the ability to secure and maintain control of key maritime terrain in support of sea control and sea denial operations as a stand-in force. 1/3 is forward-deployed in the Indo-Pacific under 4th Marines as a part of the Unit Deployment Program.
