Soldiers assigned to 2nd Battalion, 12th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, prepare for a sling load operations training exercise with the CH-47 Chinook, Feb. 9, 2022, at Fort Carson, Colorado. Helicopter sling load operations are used extensively in the ship-to-shore movement of cargo and equipment during amphibious operations, movement of supplies and equipment over the battlefield, vertical replenishment of ships, and firepower emplacement.
