Col. Craig Martin, Fort Hamilton garrison commander, receives land damage updates from the construction crew regarding the bluff behind the Community Club, Sep. 2, 2021. The stretch of repeated tropical storms and hurricanes in 2021 led to the collapse of the bluff and multiple sinkholes on Taylor Field, Lee Avenue, and two parking lots. Recognizing the immediate need to update infrastructure and repair damages, Installation Management Command secured a $1.98 million contract last September for Fort Hamilton to start construction.
