U.S. Marine Corps Captain Nicholas Whalen, 4th Civil Affairs Group, speaks with an Afghan guest during an employment workshop event at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, Jan. 25, 2022. The event aided Afghan guests with creating resumes and applications for both the American job market and education systems. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 11,000 Afghan evacuees at Liberty Village, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
