Sgt. 1st Class Leonard Adams, Soldier of the Michigan National Guard (MING), is recognized during a Purple Heart presentation ceremony at the Grand Ledge Army Aviation Support Facility on January 23, 2022. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Maj. Gen. Paul Rogers, MING adjutant general, and Command Sgt. Maj. William Russell III, MING senior enlisted leader, presented the Purple Heart to three Soldiers of the MING who had sustained injuries January 8, 2020 during an Iranian ballistic missile attack while deployed to Al Asad Air Base, Iraq, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
