An Afghan guest, left, an Afghan interpreter, center, and U.S. Marines, assigned to the 4th Civil Affairs Group, Hialeah, Florida, work jointly to ensure Afghan guests continue to receive proper medical care at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Jan. 18, 2022. Civil Affairs service members are responsible for coordinating, conducting and participating in the planning and production of civil affairs related documents. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
