U.S. Army pilot flies an AH-64D Apache assigned to the 1-3rd Attack Battalion to prepare for local area orientation flights around the Hohenfels Training Area, Dec. 3, 2021. The pilots took advantage of the excellent weather to exercise their searching and scanning techniques on one another during Combined Resolve XVI. The event occurs at the Grafenwoehr Training Area and the Joint Multinational Readiness Center and Hohenfels Training Area in northeast Bavaria, Germany. The event is designed to evaluate the unit's ability to conduct operations in a complex, multi-domain simulated battlespace.
