Green Berets with 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), evacuate a simulated casualty using a hoist from a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter during a full mission profile training exercise at Ukibaru Island, Okinawa, Japan on Nov. 23, 2021. The exercise brought together several operation detachment alphas conducting scout swimmer, underwater beach landing, and military freefall high altitude high opening infiltrations onto the island with support from a Marine Corps C-130 airplane. This joint rehearsal served as a major milestone in the unit’s efforts to support INDOPACOM's integrated deterrence strategy in the First Island Chain by incorporating lethal layered capabilities to develop conditions and create options to solve its most pressing and complex problems.
