U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Corey Mathews, a combat videographer with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, takes photographs of Afghan individuals on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Oct. 11, 2021. Mathews was recognized as the motivator of the week for his contributions to Task Force Pickett and Operation Allies Welcome. During his time with the task force, he produced hundreds of photographs and created four video productions, most of his efforts being disseminated throughout various media outlets and viewed by millions across the nation.
“Being a part of this operation means a lot to me because the world is watching,” said Mathews. “Being able to be the one taking the pictures and videos to tell the story of these people is one of the reasons I joined and I’m glad to get the opportunity to be here” Said Mathews.
