Capt. Charles L. Sartain Jr. being inducted into the 82nd Airborne Division Hall of Heroes on Nov. 19, 2021 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was serving as the Alpha Battery Commander of the 319th Glider Field Artillery Regiment, when he took command of E.Co. 325th Paratroopers. Capt. Sartain personally directed and led a group's defense of Finger Ridge after encountering an attack by German Armored forces on September 24th, 1944. His leadership saved the lives of his men as they propelled three successive waves of enemy armored and flamethrower attacks.
