Recruit William Hernandez Santos with Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, ascends an obstacle called the Stairway to Heaven exercises during the confidence course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Nov. 16, 2021. Recruits became physically and mentally stronger by overcoming obstacles that require strength, balance, and determination.
