SAN ANTONIO – (Nov. 1, 2021) Commanding Officer of Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio, Capt. Gerald DeLong (left), joined by NAMRU Senior Science Director Dr. Sylvain Cardin, greets City of San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg prior to the start of opening ceremonies for the 51st Anniversary of Celebrate America’s Military (CAM) at Alamo Plaza. During the ceremony, Nirenberg delivered a proclamation declaring Nov. 1 – 19, 2021 as Celebrate America’s Military in the City of San Antonio. NAMRU San Antonio is one of the leading research and development laboratories for the U.S. Navy under the Department of Defense and is one of eight subordinate research commands in the global network of laboratories operating under the Naval Medical Research Center in Silver Spring, Md.
