The Secretary of the Navy, Carlos Del Toro, speaks to Marines at an F-35B static display at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Oct. 26 2021. The visit highlighted the capabilities of the air station and its mission in support of the U.S.-Japan alliance. In addition to visiting the one of the Marine Corps’ only forward-deployed F-35B squadrons, the secretary also observed U.S. Marines and sailors working alongside soldiers from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force during the air station’s annual base defense exercise.
