Afghan individuals stand for the Afghanistan National anthem during the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Oct. 25, 2021. The Afghanistan versus Scotland match in Cricket World Cup was streamed to allow Afghan individuals to relax and bond over shared sporting interests. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
