Task Force Phoenix Soldiers teamed up with active duty and Reserve Soldiers from the 393rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, the 526th Quartermaster Composite Supply Company, and the 247th Composite Supply Company for Operation Thirsty Camel. The operation took place over four days at the Kuwait Naval Base on the Persian Gulf. Task Force Phoenix Soldiers from A Company, 640th Aviation Support Battalion, used their skills as 92W Water Treatment Specialists to pump salt water from the Gulf and convert it into potable water. During the operation, the Soldiers ran through their Mission Essential Task List (METL). They operated Tactical Water Purification Systems and Lightweight Water Purifiers to convert seawater into potable water that can be used for anything from washing trucks to hydrating.
