Meet Spc. Natalie Cuellar, a communications major at CSU Stanislaus and a 91B – Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic with the Cal Guard’s 270th Military Police Company, 49th Military Police Brigade. She is the only family member to join the military and identifies as Hispanic with family from Riverside, Calif. Even though Cuellar has not been a Soldier for a long period, in the recent past, she has been activated a total of five times in support of state emergencies. She’s been on two civil support and three wildfire missions. Each year the country observes National Hispanic Heritage Month September 15 – October 15. This brings an opportunity to appreciate the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
