Gen. Glen VanHerck, Commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, meets with Task Force McCoy senior leaders, Fort McCoy Senior Commander and Commanding General of the 88th Readiness Division, Maj. Gen. Darrell Guthrie, Task Force McCoy Commanding General, Brig. Gen. Christopher Norrie, and Department of Homeland Security Federal Coordinator for Fort McCoy, Angie Salazar, on Sept. 26, 2021. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
