The Communication Strategy and Operation Marines of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit,
took pictures of military personnel and Afghan individuals on a Polaroid camera, to provide
them with a memory of their times with the Marines. The Department of Defense, through
U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing
transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000
