Members of the 127th Wing Student Flight pose in front of a KC-135 Stratotanker at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan, prior to their orientation flight. These Airmen are on track to become the 127th Air Refueling Group's newest in-flight refueling specialists, or boom operators. Boom operators are highly trained experts who are responsible for safely and effectively transferring aviation fuel from one aircraft to another during flight. They also supervise cargo and passenger loading and off loading operations and ensure availability of fleet service equipment.
