U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center’s Project Origin team is at Ft. Polk, Louisiana, working with one of the Army’s premier Opposing Forces (OPFOR) unit, 1st Battalion (Airborne), 509th Infantry, to gain Soldier feedback on platform capabilities and robotic combat vehicle use cases. Project Origin is a testing and demonstration platform for emerging technologies, the data from which helps U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command and our Cross Functional Team partners inform the Robotic Combat Vehicle campaign of learning. As part of the U.S. Army Modernization enterprise led by our 31+4 signature modernization efforts, the technologies that Project Origin helps develop contribute to the breakthrough capabilities our Warfighters need. This historic experiment is the first time that the Army has integrated armed unmanned ground combat platforms into a combat training center rotation and demonstrates the capability Soldiers will employ on future battlefields.
