Members of the 515th Sapper Company, 5th Engineer Battalion bring food for quarantined Afghans during Operation Allies Welcome at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Sept. 17, 2021. In the event of a close contact to a positive test result, Afghan evacuees are placed in quarantine barracks until they are cleared to continue through the immigration process here. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
