U.S. Army Sgt. Gabriel E. Rodriguez Velez, an aviation operations noncommissioned officer assigned to 603rd Aviation Support Battalion, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, is a Carolina, Puerto Rico, native who graduated from Colegio Santa Maria del Camino. Rodriguez enlisted in the Army May 17, 2013, and previously served with 6th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, and 1st Battalion, 13th Aviation Regiment, at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Rodriguez enlisted to continue his family’s tradition of service, to improve his life, and to have better opportunities. His grandfather served in the Korean War, his uncle served in the Gulf War, and his older brother served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
