U.S. Army Spc. Karyna Keitt, a Brooklyn, N.Y., native assigned to the 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, escorts an Afghan family to the in-processing station at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), Pa., on Sept. 10, 2021. 1st Sustainment Brigade is providing coordination and sustainment support to Operation Allies Welcome at PHL. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
