Mr. George E. Patterson was awarded by the USASA Fort Dix Commander COL Johah A. Brierton the Civilian Service Achievement Medal in recognition of his 16 years of service as a Department of the Army Civilian (DAC), GS-1712-09 Training Technician, in the Military Schools Services Branch of the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security.
Mr. Patterson began work as a DAC on 24 JUL 2005 and will retire on 31 AUG 2021. During this time period, he served as ASA Fort Dix Primary Instructor for all of the Chemical Biological, Radiological Nuclear Defense Courses (CBRN). Mr. Patterson was the Course Director responsible for instructing the two week/80 hours Defense Officer/NCO course and the one week/40 hours CBRN Room operations course to service members and civilians from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. Additionally, he provided technical advice to the Installation that supported the execution of contingency operations. These technical services included fitting CBRN protective equipment for deploying Soldiers during which Mr. Patterson personally sized and ordered over 600 Special Fit Masks. Mr. Patterson served as the Installation Radiation Safety Officer and the Calibration Coordinator for Calibration and repair service.
During his 16 years of service, George Patterson trained thousands of service members and civilians on tasks that were critical to their unit mission and to the survival of themselves and their subordinates on a CBRN environment battlefield.
