U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Pacific Ocean Division (POD) Deputy Commander Col. Jason Williams welcomed Mongolian Land Forces Command Commander Maj. Gen. Bujiinov Amgalanbaatar and his delegation to the POD Headquarters at Fort Shafter, Hawaii on Aug. 11 as part of the U.S. Army Pacific’s 2021 U.S. – Mongolia Land Forces Talks. The engagement focused on military engineering and future joint training opportunities that enhance the Mongolian Land Forces Command’s ability to deploy for United Nations Peace Keeping Operations. USACE is part of the whole of U.S. Government team supporting the U.S. bilateral strategic partnership with Mongolia.

USACE completed additions and renovations at the Five Hills Training Area in Mongolia, a state of the art Peace Keeping Training facility in support of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and the State Department’s Global Peacekeeping Operations Initiative. USACE has also constructed multiple kindergartens in Mongolia as part of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program. Since 2018, USACE has conducted seven engagements with the Mongolian Armed Forces Engineer Directorate to enhance their ability to develop national infrastructure projects.

USACE is honored to be a valued partner to Mongolia. Experts and senior leaders from both countries, to include the U.S. Army Pacific and U.S. Embassy, participated in the COVID compliant discussions.
