Defender Pacific 21: Special Forces Soldiers, JGSDF conduct bilateral operations in Guam

SANTA RITA, Guam – UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters transport U.S. Army Green Berets assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), and members of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force to Naval Base Guam July 30, 2021. Defender Pacific 21 is a U.S. Army Pacific exercise that uses the National Defense Strategy by practicing the strategic deployment, command and control, and employment of combat credible forces into the region, and supports the Indo-Pacific Command’s Joint war fighting concepts. DP21 demonstrates the Theater Army’s ability to rapidly surge combat-ready forces into and across the theater. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Anthony Bryant)
