    Maj. Emilee Alms, an Army Reserve veterinarian from Arden Hills, Minn., assisted by Spc. Jayden Vergara, an Army Reserve animal care specialist from Modesto, Calif., conducts a spay surgery on a kitten during a veterinary clinic offered by the Army Reserve's 7214 Medical Support Unit and 7351 Veterinary Detachment as part of Operation Walking Shield, an Innovative Readiness Training Event held at the Fort Belknap Reservation, Montana, July 18-31. The Department of Defense sponsored event partnered the Army Reserve Medical Command units, based in Garden Grove, Calif., with the Fort Belknap Agency and Hays Clinic to offer no cost medical, dental, optical and veterinary services to the tribal community while offering real world training opportunities for Army Reserve medical Soldiers to ensure deployment readiness while addressing needs within America’s local communities.
