U.S. Marines with Alpha Company, 3rd Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Battalion, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), are resupplied with water during the Anti-aircraft Warfare evolution of Summer Fury 21 at San Clemente Island, July 21, 2021. 3rd LAAD is responsible for providing close-in, low altitude, and surface to air defense against enemy aircraft that approach Marine Corps forward combat areas, maneuver forces and vital installations. Summer Fury is an exercise conducted by 3rd MAW in order to maintain and build capability, strength, and trust within its units to generate the readiness and lethality needed to deter and defeat adversaries during combat operations as the U.S. Marine Corps refines tactics and equipment in accordance with Force Design 2030.
