French Laboratory helps keep Navy EURAFCENT healthy

Oscar Bernal Esposito, NAVFAC EURAFCENT Water Quality Specialist at Naval Air Station, Rota, Spain, collects a clean water sample to send to Eau De Paris (Water of Paris), a specialized laboratory contracted by the Navy to analyze for a parasitic protozoa called cryptosporidium (crypto). The requirement to test for crypto was recently added to the Navy’s Surface Water Treatment Rule and led to this partnership between NAVFAC EURAFCENT and the laboratory in Paris. Esposito’s sample is one of 140 samples collected annually from control points at different sites in five countries (Italy, Greece, Spain, Djibouti [Africa] and the Kingdom of Bahrain) requiring this specialized analysis.
