    210703-N-HG846-1217 SYDNEY (July 3, 2021) – Sailors aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) throw a messenger line to sailors aboard the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Takanami-class destroyer JS Makinami (DD 112) as they moor alongside in support of Pacific Vanguard 2021. Pacific Vanguard, an exercise involving U.S., Australian, Republic of Korea navies and Japan Maritime Self Defense Force, is designed to strengthen maritime operations in the multilateral environment.
