Sailors Give Back During Kansas City Navy Week 2021

Machinist’s Mate (Nuclear) 1st Class Chris Alpers, assigned to Navy Talent Acquisition Onboarding Center Kansas City, bags potatoes at Harvesters Community Food Network during a community relations event in Kansas City, Missouri June 29, 2021. HCFN is a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas, providing food and related household products to more than 760 nonprofit agencies. The event was part of Kansas City Navy Week, the first in-person Navy Week since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing Sailors from different Navy units across the U.S. to conduct focused outreach with members of the community. Navy Weeks consist of a series of events coordinated by the Navy Office of Community Outreach designed to give Americans an opportunity to learn about the Navy, its people and its importance to national security and prosperity.
