Field researchers from the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center constructed the hardware for a citizen-science shoreline-monitoring project at Ocean View Pier, Norfolk, Virginia, June 24, 2021. Submitted photos at installed locations can help track the shoreline over time by supplying ERDC researchers with the data used to detect shoreline erosion or growth, specific storm impacts, seasonal beach changes and evolution of beach nourishment projects.
