U.S. Army Sgt. Matthew Maddox reviews operational reports with another soldier in eastern Afghanistan. Maddox, a 22-year-old native of Wallace, Calif., is serving in eastern Afghanistan with Headquarters and Headquarters Brigade, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. Maddox enlisted as a Fire Support specialist in 2007 and is on his second deployment with the 173rd to Afghanistan.
