U.S. Marines and Sailors with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 462, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, 3d Marine Logistics Group (MLG), and Underwater Construction Team (UCT) 2 prepare to disembark a CH-53E Super Stallion with HMH-462 during exercise Poseidon’s Watchtower on Ukibaru Island, Okinawa, Japan, June 8, 2021. Marines with 3d MLG and Sailors with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4 and UCT-2 were transported to Ukibaru island to survey the land for future construction and training. Poseidon’s Watchtower is a multi-domain exercise designed to simulate the establishment of Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations through joint service integration. NMCB-4 is forward deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region and United States, ready to support major combat operations, theater security, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations. UTC-2 provides a capability to support a Fleet Marine Force amphibious assault, subsequent combat service support ashore, and construction, inspection, repair and maintenance of ocean facilities in support of Navy and Marine Corps operations.
