Albanian MPs have provided security for U.S. equipment and personnel throughout Albania during DEFENDER-Europe 21. U.S. and Albanian Military personnel are training at Kucove as part of Astral Knight 21. Astral Knight 21 is a joint, multinational exercise involving Airmen, Soldiers and Sailors from the United States working with service members from Albania, Croatia, Greece, Italy and Slovenia that takes place under the broader umbrella of DEFENDER-Europe 21, which currently involves tens of thousands of multinational troops training across the European theater in a variety of exercises designed to increase interoperability, readiness and partnerships among partners and allies.
DEFENDER-Europe 21, a large-scale U.S. Army-led exercise designed to build readiness and interoperability between the U.S., NATO allies and partner militaries. This year, more than 28,000 multinational forces from 26 nations will conduct nearly simultaneous operations across more than 30 training areas in more than a dozen countries from the Baltics to the strategically important Balkans and Black Sea Region.
