Spc. Clayton Smith, of the 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry Regiment, South Carolina Army National Guard, plays music during the opening of the battalion’s dayroom at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, Aug. 25. With the support of their battalion, soldiers were able to scrounge amenities to create the dayroom as a social sanctuary away from the dust and heat of Kuwait. Smith is from Queens, N.Y.
