Private First Class Jonathan Cockman, a cannoneer serving with India Battery, 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, fires an M777 Lightweight Howitzer during a regimental exercise here Sept. 13, 2012. The exercise aimed to develop and sustain 11th Marine Regiment’s ability to plan and execute artillery fires. Specifically, the artillery battalions trained in all aspects in fire support coordination, maneuvering, counter firing and supporting regimental command and control. Cockman is a 22-year-old from Camden, S.C.
