The U.K. HURST POINT cargo vessel dwarfs U.S. military personnel as they unload vehicles and equipment from its hull May 1, 2021, as part of the Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore operations that took place during the opening exercises of DEFENDER-Europe 21 at Durres Port , Albania. During the operations, Joint Forces, working alongside multinational allies and partners, unloaded thousands of pieces of equipment and supplies that will be forwarded to troops in the field participating in training throughout the European theater.
DEFENDER-Europe 21 is a large-scale U.S. Army-led exercise designed to build readiness and interoperability between the U.S., NATO allies and partner militaries. This year, more than 28,000 multinational forces from 26 nations will conduct nearly simultaneous operations across more than 30 training areas in more than a dozen countries from the Baltics to the strategically important Balkans and Black Sea Region.
