210511-N-WU807-1232 PACIFIC OCEAN (May 11, 2021) A rigid-hull inflatable boat carrying U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment 104 personnel approach a foreign vessel during an Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI) boarding. The U.S. Coast Guard service members are embarked aboard Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Charleston (LCS 18), in support of the OMSI program, a Secretary of Defense initiative leveraging Department of Defense assets transiting the region to increase the Coast Guard's maritime domain awareness, ultimately supporting its maritime law enforcement operation in Oceania.
