The 19th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Sgt. Maj. Troy E. Black, right, pins Corporal chevrons on the Marines from 1st Marine Logistics Group (MLG) being promoted at the State Vaccination Site (STS) at the Hurst Conference Center in Hurst, Texas May 5, 2021. Black, the senior ranking enlisted Marine in the Marine Corps, visited the site to observe the work Marines and Sailors have been doing in Texas over the past two months, which has resulted in over 150,000 administered vaccines to the community members of the greater Tarrant County community. Marines and Sailors with 1st MLG, at the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, in partnership with state and local authorities, are assisting in vaccination center operations to help vaccinate the Tarrant County community. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
