Each week we will post a picture from the U.S. Navy's only Boot Camp which highlights how we turn civilians into basically trained Sailors.
Chief Naval Aircrewman (Tactical Helicopter) Ryan Quinn, an inspector from fleet quality assurance (FQA), inspects a recruit during a phase 3 personnel inspection inside a compartment of the USS Constitution recruit barracks at Recruit Training Command.
Recruits complete an inspection in each of the working, service and dress uniform, for a total of three official inspections during their time in boot camp. Each division’s recruit division commanders will conduct practice inspections a number of times before an official inspection is conducted by FQA. The inspection requires each recruit to don their uniform within a specified time frame and recruits are scored on a number of factors including proper wear, presentation, military bearing and professional knowledge.
The inspection process teaches recruits that a standard of excellence for uniform wear must be demonstrated at all times on their journey to become a Sailor in the world’s finest Navy. More than 40,000 recruits train annually at the Navy's only boot camp. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Spencer Fling)
